Course Overview

Purpose:
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified car driving instructor. It prepares learners to plan, deliver, and assess structured training programs for learner drivers in line with road safety principles and government regulations.

Course Pre-requisites:

  • Full, unrestricted driver’s licence (held for 12+ months)

  • Completion of LLN assessment (Language, Literacy & Numeracy)

  • Aged 21+

  • Must pass a criminal record check and obtain Working With Children Check

  • Have basic computer skills
  • Be fit to undertake to the role of a driving instructor

Training Plan

At Shift, we have made the process of becoming a driving instructor easy, we have two options to get you on the road sooner: XX Option 1 
  1. Contact the office for course dates
  2. Pay enrolment fee of $1500
  3. Review our pre class study resources
  4. Complete online enrolment
  5. Complete a series of online modules prior to class
  6. Pay the remainder of your invoice
  7. Come to our five day workshop, complete your practicals and some theory assessments
  8. Finish off some home study, activities and assessments
  9. Course complete!
XX Option 2
  1. Enrol at anytime and pay the enrolment fee $1500
  2. Complete online study, activities and assessments
  3. Complete a series of online modules prior to class
  4. Book into a your practical sessions (min 16 hours required)
  5. Finish off some home study, activities and assessments
  6. Course complete
 
Location Shift Training P/L is registered to deliver this qualification throughout Australia. All in class training will be delivered at Shift Training's head office – 26-30 Quilton Place Crestmead 4132.    

Support and Mentoring Services

We are committed to helping you achieve your study goals and we don't leave you alone when you finish your study – all students will have access to the trainers throughout the program and after completion of the courseas a contact point for any technical or process support in developing competencies. Each student will be screened in terms of their literacy and numeracy levels coming into the program and will be supported in those areas according to their individual needs. Where we cannot provide sufficient support, students will be referred to a suitable TAFE program to develop their reading and writing skills.

RPL

If you have experience in teaching learners to drive or have been involved in other training industries you may be eligible to RPL some of the units in the Certificate IV in Driving Instructor Qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning(RPL)simply means that your previous skills and experience will be recognised without the need for more study - getting you on the road sooner.
